Toray Industries, Inc. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President, CEO & COO: Akihiro Nikkaku, hereafter referred to as “Toray”) has succeeded in producing laboratory-scale samples of the world’s first fully renewable biobased PET fiber by using fully renewable biobased PET derived from biobased para-xylene from Gevo, Inc. (Head Office: Englewood, Colorado, U.S.A, CEO: Patrick R. Gruber, hereafter referred to as "Gevo"), a leading company in renewable chemicals and advanced biofuels.

Toray Advanced Film Co., Ltd. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Susumu Yamaguchi; 94.41% owned by Toray; hereinafter referred to as “TAF”) today announced that it has decided to establish a company in Taiwan for the manufacture and sales of surface protection films. The new company, Toray Advanced Film Kaohsiung Co., Ltd., will be set up in Kaohsiung in May this year and a plant to manufacture TAF’s self-adhesive surface protection film TORETEC* will be also constructed.

Toray Industries, Inc. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & COO: Akihiro Nikkaku; hereinafter referred to as “Toray”) announced today that it would start selling MICROMAFIN™, an ultrafine nylon fiber with a delicate feel and superior softness. Toray in April started shipping the product to major apparel manufacturers, and it aims to achieve a sales volume of 25 tons in the first year on the market and 100 tons in three years primarily for making stockings and inner wears.
